Propeller Media Works Merges With Scully Interactive

For Immediate Release

Burlington, Vermont - Two Burlington Vermont based interactive agencies have joined forces to create one of the regions largest, independently-owned, web development firms. The new company will retain the name Propeller Media Works, LLC and will occupy an expanded presence at 208 Flynn Avenue, Studio 2i, in Burlington's South End Arts District. All staff members from both firms will transition to the new company and the merged team will include 10 fulltime employees.

The professional relationship between the two firms was formed back when Russ opened Scully Interactive and really solidified while working together on the ecommerce development project for Merrick Pet Care of Herford, Texas http://merrickpetcare.com. Propeller provided the strategy, content architecture, and graphic design, while Scully Interactive implemented the ecommerce programming and database integration.

Over the years, the principals discovered they shared more than complimentary skill sets and great chemistry. It also turned out that Gibson and Scully graduated a year apart from St. Lawrence University. While they started out in the same place, each partner's path back to Burlington included twists and turns. Russ spent several years in California working in design and ultimately moved to Burlington to work in the telecom industry. He founded Scully Interactive in January 2000. Gibson spent a few years in Wyoming honing his snowboarding skills before moving back to Burlington where he started Propeller Media Works in 1997.

"I like to think of this as the start of Propeller V2.0." said Gibson. He continued, "It was impossible to ignore the potential of bringing these two teams together. Propeller's strength in brand development and design coupled with Scully's depth in technology and ecommerce will be a tough combo to beat. Too often we had to turn projects away, but now we have the capacity we need."

Scully added, "Joining the Propeller team makes sense. Both shops have solid momentum from 2003 and we expect a multiplier effect to kick in as the economy continues to revive." Scully continued, "We now have the increased capacity and full range of services needed to tackle the biggest projects for both regional and national clients."

The merger includes a doubling of Propellers office space at 208 Flynn with a newly renovated ground floor space built by Farrington Construction. The Scully team will be moving into the expanded Propeller offices on February 1st.
